Dr. Byron Greenberg
Specialist in PTSD, High Stress Workplace Issues, Burnout, and Trauma
Dr. Byron E. Greenberg brings nearly three decades of applied research and consulting experience in teacher well-being and workplace stress to Robin Devitt Consulting Group. He began his graduate training with an M.S.Ed. in Applied Behavioral Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, laying an early foundation in education and behavioral intervention that has anchored his career-long focus on supporting the people who work in high-stress public service environments, including teachers, school personnel, and first responders.
Since 1998, Dr. Greenberg has worked with the California Teachers Association, where he was a key contributor to the development of the Survive and Thrive Program, a teacher revitalization initiative designed to address burnout and help educators build sustainable, long-term careers in the classroom. Alongside longtime research partner Robin Devitt, he co-authored a series of studies and conference presentations tracking the program's outcomes over five years, including A Five-Year Outcome for the Survive and Thrive Teacher Revitalization Program, Keeping Teachers in the Classroom: A Five-Year Longitudinal Study of the Survive and Thrive Program, and Survive and Thrive: Victories Gained and Lessons Learned from Five Years of a Teacher Revitalization Program, all presented at the Hawaii International Conference on Education. Their collaboration also produced a multiphasic approach to measuring teacher burnout, presented at the American Psychological Association's national convention, along with further longitudinal findings on teacher revitalization presented in 2008.
Dr. Greenberg holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and an M.P.H. in Health Promotion and Education, and he is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He currently serves as a tenured Associate Professor of Psychology at Virginia State University, where he teaches Consultation and Supervision and Crisis Intervention in the university's Ph.D. program in Clinical Health Psychology. His combined expertise in behavioral health, crisis intervention, and educator well-being supports Robin Devitt Consulting Group's work helping schools, districts, and public agencies build healthier, more resilient workplaces!
